Simmerings, i.e. type A sealing rings, are one of the most popular rotary seals used for radial sealing of shafts. They are made of rubber and stiffened with a metal insert or enclosed with a metal cover. They can work in grease, oil, fuel or water at pressures up to 0.1 MPa in the temperature range from -30 to +110 °C. The outer cylindrical surface of sheet steel or elastomer seals the ring statically in the seat.
Simmerings have an elastomer sealing lip pressed with radial force towards the shaft surface, in some versions there is a dust-proof lip protecting against dust and other solid impurities. Sealing rings have a wide variety of designs and are made of various materials to ensure their reliability in various operating conditions. There are the following types of simmerings:
  • Type A - base type
  • Type AD - a type with an external cylindrical corrugated surface
  • AE type
  • Type AF - type with increased lateral compensation
  • Type AH - type used at low rotational speeds
  • Type AO - type used for overpressure up to 0.3MPa
  • Type AOD - type with an external cylindrical corrugated surface and an additional sealing lip
  • Type AOF - type with increased lateral compensation and additional sealing lip
  • Type AOH - type used for overpressure up to 0.3MPa and low rotational speeds.
