/There are many contaminant hazards that can compromise food safety, such as acidic or abrasive ingredients, high temperatures, and frequent washing with corrosive cleaners. Resulting corrosion of machine components can cause lubricant leaks that can potentially contaminate end products.
To eliminate these risks, SKF has taken an innovative hygienic design approach in developing the Food Line range of ball bearings, including the SKF Blue Line range. Featuring food-safe and corrosion-resistant components, these assemblies have been built from the ground up, and each component is designed to meet outstanding performance and hygienic standards in line with international guidelines. The hygienic geometry of the luminaire surfaces, end cover and back seal have been intelligently designed to prevent sediment build-up, facilitate cleaning and help reduce the spread of bacteria and allergens.

The ingenious design also includes blue materials for optical detectability. The Blue Line range can be supplied as open or fully sealed units with a closing lid and back seal. The patented bearing sealing system and the unique quality of the grease contribute to the extended life and high reliability of the bearing. Designed to run without relubrication, these units reduce maintenance and associated grease and labor costs.

The SKF Food Line range of bearings is also available with advanced Solid Oil technology. Solid Oil is a polymer matrix saturated with lubricating oil that practically fills the entire internal space in the bearing. The microporous structure in the polymer matrix holds the lubricating oil. As the polymer matrix is pressed into the bearing and then hardened, a very narrow gap is formed around the rolling elements and raceways, allowing the bearing to rotate freely. Oil is sucked from the die into these gaps, ensuring continuous lubrication of the bearing. Solid Oil bearings & nbsp; are lubricated for life and contain 2 to 4 times more lubricating oil than similar filled bearings plastic grease. Solid Oil is resistant to virtually all chemicals used in cleaning processes.

Lubrication is key to extending bearing life, which in turn is essential to increasing machine and production uptime. Over-lubrication is both costly and can cause serious complications, while insufficient lubrication can allow contaminants to enter the bearing, leading to premature bearing failure. SKF Ultrasonic Lubrication Control TLGU 10 offers a practical, easy-to-use solution for accurate relubrication. Easily connected to a grease gun and employing ultrasonic technology, this intuitive device helps streamline the manual relubrication process by ensuring that the right amount of grease is dosed into the bearing at the right time, thereby maximizing performance and bearing life for the lowest total cost of ownership.
SKF's mission is to be the undisputed leader in the bearing industry. SKF achieves this by offering solutions that reduce friction and CO2 emissions while increasing machine uptime and productivity. Rotating shaft products and services include bearings, seals, lubrication management, artificial intelligence and wireless condition monitoring. SKF is represented in more than 130 countries and has approximately 17,000 distributors worldwide. Annual sales in 2020 were SEK 74,852 million and the number of employees was 40,963. www.skf.com & reg; SKF is a registered trademark of the SKF Group.
